Asus EeePC 4G

So tiny you could almost call it pocket-sized, this Linux-based lappy is so cheap that it's basically in a category of its own. The low-res 7-inch screen and 4GB of flash storage might not impress spec-hungry tech-heads, but performance and usability are absolutely superb given the price - the screen might no pack too many pixels, but it's bright and clean. The Nintendo Wii of laptops - and a great buy.

Apple iPhone

Fusing the virtues of an iPod with a smartphone is enough to illicit seismic levels of excitement. Chuck in a 3.5" Multi-touch screen, video player, camera and arguably the niftiest mobile Wi-Fi web browsing experience out there, then sprinkle with Apple's patented magical dust of user-friendliness, and what you're holding is, quite simply, a revolutionary gadget.

Samsung's new snapper

Samsung has just unveiled a shiny new 10-megapixel compact camera with a difference: it's packing hi-def video abilities 'neath its metal shell.
Yes, the NV24HD is Samsung's first hi-def digital camera, able to capture 720p video (that's 1280 x 720 resolution, fact fans) at an impressive 30 frames per second. Then, thanks to an HDMI output, it can directly display its footage back on a large HD television or projector - there's no need to use a PC or Mac as a middleman.
Of course, it's first and foremost a stills camera, and Samsung hasn't been afraid to shove in all sorts of top class tech to ensure that your shots come out nice and sharp. There's anti-shake, two forms of image stabilisation (digital and optical) and advanced noise reduction for clean low-light, high-ISO photos. And it's all topped off by a 2.5-inch AM-OLED display that offers better image quality than a standard LCD screen.
We care because...It's got features aplenty, and it's not ridiculously expensive.
